According to a joint statement released on Wednesday, social media platform Twitter has added Paytm Payments Services as one of the payment gateways for carrying out Tips transactions, among other things.
Tip functionality has been added to Twitter. It allows users to show their appreciation for the work of content creators or small business owners on Twitter by making payments through Paytm instruments such as Paytm UPI, Paytm Wallet, Paytm Postpaid (buy now pay later), debit or credit cards, or netbanking.
The platform already includes a cryptocurrency and a Razorpay payment gateway to make transactions easier.
Since the beginning of May 2021, Twitter has been testing the Tips feature with a small test group comprised of some of the most influential and diverse voices on the service, including journalists and content creators.
Since November of last year, Tips has been made available to all individuals over the age of 18 in India on both iOS and Android devices, allowing them to monetise their Twitter accounts. It also allows people who use the service to send and receive funds as a token of appreciation from one another.
“Paytm is already used by millions of people in India for their everyday payments, and we are thrilled to be collaborating with Twitter to enable payments for Tips. This will provide the creator community with monetisation capabilities, which will be beneficial “Praveen Sharma, the CEO of Paytm Payments Services, stated.
